A VERY VANCOUVER CHRISTMAS’ REALLY BIG CHRISTMAS CONCERT
ANNOUNCING A VERY VANCOUVER CHRISTMAS’ REALLY BIG CHRISTMAS CONCERT
IN BENEFIT OF THE BC-SPCA ON DECEMBER 20TH AT ST. JAMES HALL
Vancouver December 3, 2009 – In celebration of the recent release of A Very Vancouver Christmas Volume IV, an album of original Christmas/Holiday music, in aid of the BC-SPCA, Rave On Studio is hosting a live benefit Christmas concert featuring contributing artists from past and present volumes. The festivities take place on December 20th at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Hall, 3214 10th Avenue West, (tickets include a copy of A Very Vancouver Christmas Volume IV and are available through Rave On Studio at $10 each, children under 5 are free). The album features 13 original holiday songs by local rising stars, as well as some old favorites. All artists and services are donated, and all proceeds from album and ticket sales will be donated to the aforementioned charity. The following artists will be serenading the audience with their original Christmas tunes: Melissa Endean, Lindsay May, Sillken, Gillian Hobbs, Olga Osipova, Richard King, Hilary Grist, Scott Jackson, Michelle Dumond, Pam Southwell, Ranj Singh, Land of Deborah, Kent as MC
The project is the creative brainchild of Vancouver Record Producer, Jenn Ashton of Rave On Studio, who wanted to find a way to showcase some of Vancouver’s amazing new musical talent, while at the same time involve and give back to the community. She also wanted to pay tribute to non-traditional Christmas and holiday music and to the people who make it. In August 2006, ten of Vancouver’s most popular musicians and bands were invited to participate in this project for charity. They wrote and recorded their own original Christmas/Holiday music for the first volume in just a few short months, and the results were amazing! Due to the unprecedented success of the first album, it was decided to make this an annual event.
Musical styles are varied, from jazz and blues to rock, country and indie music. All of the material is original with a Christmas/Holiday theme. One of the goals of this album project is to make these musicians and their music available to a wider, non-club going audience. “I consider many of these musicians to be the ‘next generation’ of Vancouver’s finest, and they have been hand-picked because of their talent and marketability,” explains Ms. Ashton. “We mixed in a few favorites as well, for name recognition, and again, to showcase some of Vancouver’s amazing talent!”
Artists included on Volume IV are: The Roasted Chestnut Orchestra, Tess Dunn, Adrienne Pierce, Sillken, Hilary Grist, Jim Houston, Gillian Hobbs, Daphne Kalfon, Olga Osipova, Ryan Donn, Laurell and Ranj Singh & the Discriminators.
